DANCING in the street will be among the activities held as part of a week of celebrations.
Zumba, street dance and a climbing wall, will feature in the programme to be held in Chester-le-Street from Monday.
Organisers hope as the town celebrates the end of The Ashes, residents will join in the events, which will run alongside the daily market.
Durham Constabulary, Chester-le-Track, Chester-le-Street Business Association, JAK Publications and the Chester-le-Street and District Area Action Partnership (AAP) are behind the scheme.
Andrew Megginson, AAP co-ordinator for Chester-le-Street and District AAP, said: “Having The Ashes come to Chester-le-Street has brought a buzz to the town and it’s fantastic that Activity Week will provide a whole host of other fun things to do”.
“There really will be something for all ages with slides, market stalls and an assault course keeping young and old alike entertained.”
The fun takes place in the Market Place and will run until Friday, August 23, with the events to be held from 10am and 3pm daily.
