Fitness fanatics are needed to “step to it” at the Stadium of Light for a unique charity challenge next month.
Those interested are being offered the opportunity to climb ‘virtual mountains’ by scaling steps in the home of the Black Cats.

Individuals can take on the UK’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis, by scaling 8,810 steps, or teams can take on Africa’s imperious Kilimanjaro, taking on an even bigger daunting 38,680 steps.
Money generated from the event will go towards Sunderland’s official charity, the Foundation of Light.
There is a registration fee of £20 per person with a minimum sponsorship target of £150.
All funds raised will support the organisation’s award-winning work with children, young people and their families across the North East.
Steppers will receive a fund-raising pack to help them gain sponsorship and complimentary tickets to an upcoming SAFC home game once they complete the challenge.
Jemma Garrett, Foundation of Light event co-ordinator, said: “We’re delighted to introduce Step Challenge as the newest event in our calendar, an event that gives Sunderland fans the chance to test themselves in the home of their heroes.
“Thanks to Sunderland AFC for allowing us to use the iconic Stadium of Light for what will be a truly memorable event.”
The event is the last in the series of this year’s Challenge Events for the charity, which has also included a cycle ride from Brussels to Paris and the annual Lambton Run.
To date participants have this year raised more than £100,000 for community projects.
