MARTIN O’Neill was among the stars at the latest fund-raising night for legendary football man Sir Bobby Robson (pictured above).
The Sunderland manager was at Rainton Meadows Arena for Another Night to Remember, in aid of the ex-England manager’s cancer charity.
The Irishman was joined by former Manchester United and Aston Villa boss Ron Atkinson, as well as comedian and entertainer Bobby Davro for the event.
Sir Bobby’s widow, Lady Elsie Robson, said last night: “It’s a great pleasure to be back at Rainton Meadows Arena for this fund-raising event.
“Mike Roseberry and his team here have been wonderfully supportive of the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation and raised an incredible amount in 2008 with the Night of All Knights.
“I’m also very grateful to Martin O’Neill who is helping out by attending this evening.
“I know from my husband’s experience how many demands there are on his time and his support is greatly appreciated.”
Sir Bobby and Lady Elsie launched the foundation in 2008.
It has gone on to raised more than £4million to help find more effective treatments for cancer.
More than 1,000 patients have been treated on clinical trials since the Sir Bobby Centre opened in February 2009.
An additional 1,000 patients have been enrolled in other research studies, studying the biology and genetics of cancer to develop and improve treatments.
