A group of junior footballers from Sunderland got to enjoy the Stadium of Light match day experience.
Plains Farm Yellows U10s took part in the Foundation of Light event thanks to Tesco Bank Junior Players, which culminated in attending the football ground for the final home game of the season against Swansea City.
The juniors’ day began with a tour of the Stadium of Light, followed by an expert coaching session with Foundation of Light coaches.
The pupils then spent time in the Sunderland AFC fanzone before attending the Premier League clash, and even got their photo taken pitch side.
The football mad youngsters won the ‘money can’t buy opportunity’ through a promotion in the Sunderland Echo.
Gillian McTaggart, Tesco Bank community investment manager, said: “Tesco Bank Junior Players was set up to ensure as many children as possible across the north east are getting fit and active.
“Running this competition means that even children out with the schools who have signed up to the programme have a chance to get involved and see what it’s all about.
“Hopefully the day provided the children with further encouragement to continue their sporting participation.”
Aaron Croft, Premier League school sports co-ordinator, added: “We were delighted to welcome the children from Plains Farm Yellows to the Stadium of Light for their match day experience.
“For some of the group it was their first visit to a Premier League game and they really enjoyed their behind-the-scenes tour, training session with our expert coaches and watching their heroes in action.”
