Stadium of Light flags at half mast to remember Hillsborough disaster
Flags at Sunderland's Stadium of Light are at half mast today in memory of those who died in the Hillsborough stadium disaster.
Flags will also be at half mast at the Academy of Light today to mark the 27th anniversary of the tragedy.
A statement on the club's website read: "On this day 27 years ago, 96 Liverpool fans lost their lives supporting the team they loved as tragedy unfolded at Sheffield Wednesday's Hillsborough Stadium during Liverpool’s FA Cup semi-final tie against Nottingham Forest.
"The thoughts of everyone at Sunderland AFC are with all those affected by the tragic events of April 15, 1989."
