Close-range goals by Tori Williams and Hayley Sharp plus Lucy Staniforth's second-half penalty ensured a dream debut for new head coach Melanie Reay.

Sunderland had been keeping their fingers crossed for another home tie while avoiding the big guns such as Man City, Arsenal and Chelsea, but the draw was not kind.

The Blues, WSL1 champions in 2015, reached the quarter-finals with a 7-0 thrashing of Doncaster Rovers Belles yesterday.

Chelsea were five up at half time through Ji So-Yun (2), Crystal Dunn, Ramona Bachmann and a Leandra Little OG.

Belles goalkeeper Nicky Davies prevented an even bigger scoreline but the hosts addesd to their tally through Katie Chapman and sub Drew Spence.
