Exercise class is held on Tuesdays from 10am to 10.45am. It is suitable for all ages and abilities. The session will include the use of Easyline machines plus circuit training. Sessions will cost £2. For more information please contact Sarah.

Saint Mary & St Peter’s Community Project will be holding an autumn fair on Saturday, October 31, from 10am to noon. There will be face painting, free hand massage and Reki taster sessions, tombola, raffle, cake stall, refreshments plus much more. Everyone is welcome.

Countdown to Christmas children’s craft sessions start on Monday, November 2, from 4pm to 5.30pm and will run for five weeks. Each week will be a different Christmas themed craft, including Christmas cards, baubles, decorations and much more. Sessions will cost £1.50. Booking is advisable as places are limited.

A Christmas disco will take place on Friday, December 18, from 5pm to 7pm. Tickets are £2 per child and will include a hot dog and drink.Children must be accompanied by an adult. Tickets are limited and must be purchased before the day.

Susan Ridley School Of Dance, based at the project, holds sessions on Mondays. Sessions are: 5pm to 6.15pm intermediate ballet (not suitable for new people as rather advanced); 6.15pm to 7.15pm musical theatre, eight to 20 years, £5 and beginners are welcome. Sessions will include singing, dance and drama. Hopefully starting soon: 6.15pm to 7.15pm, ladies tap class, £5; 7.15pm to 8.15pm ladies ballet class, £5. Second To None is a small community clothing store, within St Mary & St Peter’s Community Project, open Monday to Friday from 11am with plenty of bargains. Donations of clothes, shoes and bags, are welcome. Contact Sarah for more information.

The Fairtrade stall at St Mary and St Peters will be open on Sunday after the 9.30am Eucharist. Christmas items can be ordered at the same time. The midweek Eucharists is held in the chapel on Mondays at 1.30pm followed by tea and Women’s Fellowship is on Tuesdays at 6pm and Thursdays at 9.30am followed by tea and biscuits.

Thornbury Care Centre holds various for residents and future residents. Jim is the activities co-ordinator and works closely with all residents in the home.Activities are: Mondays aerobics with music; Tuesday morning art and crafts, card making, colouring and sensory boxes. OnTuesday afternoons Ladies’ club including tea, chat and relaxation class with music; Wednesdays exercise and fitness club in wheelchairs, relaxing class with musical instruments other equipment and cooking class, including homemade bread, pizzas, cakes and scones; Thursdays trips out, lunch at public houses, visits to parks, museums, Beamish, restaurants and other places of interest; Fridays prize bingo and at 6pm social evening for residents, their families and friends. Other events are a monthly such as church service, film shows, quiz, gardening, bowling, and many more. Throughout the year fundraising events are held to boost the residents’ amenities fund and for the residents chosen charity, which this year is Macmillan Cancer Support. Humbledon Methodist Church, Ettrick Grove, holds a number of weekly events: Sundays morning worship at 10.45am; Mondays Brownies at 6.30pm; Tuesdays Weight Watchers from 6pm; Wednesdays Open Door from 10.30 to 1pm, when coffee and light lunches will be served and on Thursdays Slimming World from 6.3pm.
