THE University of Sunderland’s award-winning CitySpace building is set to host the North East Sports Awards for the third year running.
The £12million sports and social facility in Chester Road, has again been chosen by Sport England to hold the annual televised ceremony tonight, which rewards the achievements of the region’s elite sports stars.
This year’s ceremony promises to be bigger and better than previous years, utilising CitySpace’s hall and seating area to hold an audience of 400 guests.
Bosses from the university say the decision to host the event shows confidence in the quality of the building to cope with such a prestigious ceremony once again.
The awards were to be held at the university building last month, but due to the severe winter weather they had to be postponed and rescheduled for today.
