A WATCHDOG committee will turn its sights on Wearside’s budget.
Sunderland City Council is busy putting its spending plans together for next year, as well as drawing up a medium-term financial strategy.
Officers and senior councillors are working to cope with millions pounds of funding cuts imposed as part the Coalition Government’s efforts to reduce the national spending deficit.
Senior councillors approved initial reports on the council’s budget and consultations at a meeting of the ruling cabinet this week.
Now the council’s management scrutiny committee will look into the reports and discuss issues of concern.
The meeting takes place on Thursday at 5.30pm in Sunderland Civic Centre.
