Gentle chair exercise will be starting up again in the Tansy Centre in the new Year. I will be held very Thursday from 1pm to 3pm for 11 weeks. The first session will be on January 14 Organised by the WEA, the course is free. It is advisable to wear loose clothing. Members of South Hylton Independent Methodist Church went along to The Village Care Home last week and joined in with the residents to sing Christmas carols. At the end, coffee and mince pies were enjoyed by everyone.
Luncheon Club members enjoyed a get together at the Hasting Hill for a Christmas lunch last week. This was a special treat, especially for the volunteers who make and organise the lunches throughout the year. Everyone received a box of chocolates before going home.
South Hylton Local History Society will hold its Christmas meeting in the Tansy Centre on Monday, December 21, starting at 7pm. Following the business, members will be offered seasonal refreshments and enjoy some Christmas entertainment. The History Society calendars are available in a number of outlets in the village including the Chemists and the Post Office. They are £4 each. Every month there is a different photograph from the society’s archives.
South Hylton Independent Methodist Church will be welcoming children from the village primary school to various services. Tomorrow Years 3 and 4 will attend an Advent Service at 10am. On Thursday there will be an early years carol service also at 10am. There is to be a carol service and nativity play on Sunday starting at 6pm. On Christmas Day there is a special Christmas Praise service at 10 30am. This will be led by Anne Chisholm and Alison Smith. On Sunda, January 3, there will be a New Year service at 10.30am and at 6pm a Covenant Service.
