South Hylton Local History Society will be holding a coffee morning on December 5 from 10am to noon in the Tansy Centre.

There will be a number of photographs from the society’s archives on show together with memorabilia and items of interest. There will be an opportunity to purchase the society’s merchandise and there will be a tombola stall and a raffle. An added attraction will be the WI cake stall. Your attendance would be appreciated. The History Society meets on the third Monday of each month. The August meeting’s talk was about Rington’s Tea, which was enhanced by a selection of memorabilia collected by members over the years. At this month’s meeting on September 21 the guest speaker will be Bernard Hope with a powerpoint presentation on Carve their Name with Pride – Commonwealth War Graves.

On Sunday there will be a family service in South Hylton Independent Methodist Church a 10am. Family services take place on the first Sunday of every month. The evening service takes place every Sunday at 6pm. Arrangement are underway for the mid-week activities to start up again following the summer break. On Tuesday, September 15, there will be Bible study and on September 22, a Fellowship meeting will take place. These meetings start at 7.15pm and are held at 7,Laburnum Close. The morning Bible study begins again on September 22 and is held in the schoolroom of the church every two weeks from 9.30am-10.30am. All are very welcome to attend any of these meetings.

South Hylton Parish Church, St Mary’s, has communion services every Wednesday and Sunday at 9.15am. The church is always available for marriages and other special services For further information, contact Sister Anne on 07715178654.
