A FISHING boat called for help after its engine failed seven miles off the Sunderland coast.

Simply The Best, which had four people on board, called HM Coastguard at 1pm on Saturday after it broke down.

The Sunderland RNLI launched a boat, which reached it within 40 minutes, towed the boat back to the harbour by about 3pm.

Paul Nicholson, from Sunderland RNLI said: “Thankfully the crew onboard the casualty vessel were able to provide the Coastguard with an accurate GPS position, this allowed us to quickly locate them.”
