The much anticipated Black Friday event seems to have been bypassed by most shoppers.
Last year, there were scenes of chaos and hundreds of people queuing in the early hours to grab a bargain.
However, today on the streets and outside stores it was much more sedate with many stores putting cut-price deals on-line.
At Tesco's in Newcastle Road, Sunderland one shopper said they had thought there would be more people snapping up bargains, but they were able to get in and out the store, buying a TV, without any problem.
At the Bridges in Sunderland a lot of shops had chosen not to open early with Black Friday discounts ongoing throughout the weekend.
Outside the streets were empty with only those heading into work out and about.
