Six to appear in court after being arrested at SAFC v Everton game

Six people - including two teenage boys - are to appear in court after being arrested at Sunderland's crucial victory over Everton at the Stadium of Light.

Northumbria Police said six people were arrested inside the ground out of a crowd of more than 46,000 people who attended the game.

All six have all been charged, including two boys aged 15 and 17, who were charged with going into the playing area of a designated football match.

Three men aged 24, 25 and 27 years were also charged with the same offence. A 49-year-old man was charged with being drunk and disorderly.

The adults are all due before Sunderland Magistrates court on May 31, and the juveniles on May 26.

Those adults charged with going into the playing area of a designated football match are: Martin Hoggarth, 27, of Osman Close, Hendon; Alan Appleby, 25, of Scoresby Close, Southwick and Benjamin Appleby, 24, of Scoresby Close,.

Mark Herron, 49 of Trinity Street, Southwick, was charged with being drunk and disorderly.
