Dean James and Chased By Badguys will take to the stage at the culture hub in Stockton Road tomorrow from 4.30pm to launch singles Black Dog and Dirty Little Secret.

Black Dog is the second single from Dean James’ upcoming album Pure, which is on sale on March 25, and was written about the black dog of depression.

Dean said: “Black dog was a term put to me by a friend when I was recording in a studio. He told me a story about how Winston Churchill had bipolar and called his depressive state his black dog.

“This black dog was his faithful friend and no matter what happened in his life it was always there, he could not get rid of it no matter how hard he tried.”

Dirty Little Secret will be the first single release by Chased By Badguys. The track is a bluesy rock song that is reminiscent of the likes of Robert Plant, Eric Clapton and Buddy Guy among others blues and blues rock artists.

Chased By Badguys lead vocalist Reece Armstrong said: “When it came to recording I knew I wanted to release Dirty Little Secret as a single due to its catchy riff and melody.

“I specifically wanted to avoid labelling it with any significance as I think the music speaks for itself and the simplicity of a good rock song is something lost today.”

There will be a limited amount of physical copies for sale, with digital copies available tomorrow from 6pm at www.forgottencityrecords.co.uk.

The gig, hosted by Forgotten City Records, is free to attend.
