Singer is far from Blue about Sunderland role

It’s been announced that the singer, who shot to fame as one quarter of Blue, will appear in Save the Last Dance for Me when it swings into Sunderland from May 9-14.

From the team responsible for hit show Dreamboats and Petticoats, Save the Last Dance for Me takes audiences back through the music of the early ‘60s and its rock ‘n’ roll classics, such as A Teenager in Love, Sweets for my Sweet, Turn Me Loose, Here I Go Again and Save The Last Dance for Me.

The new production, which begins touring in April, follows the story of two teenage sisters through the summer of ’63.

For the first time without their parents, the sisters embark on a holiday to the seaside. Full of freedom and high spirits they meet a handsome young American who invites them to a dance at the local US Air Force base.

But young love and holiday romance is never as simple as it sounds, and the sisters soon realise that while the world around them is still watching itself in black and white, life and love can be much more colourful.

Antony will star as Milton. He’s no stranger to the stage after appearing in Blood Brothers in the West End and the UK tour of Boogie Nights.

Blue, who recently reunited, enjoyed chart success with three number one albums, and eleven Top Ten singles, including their debut song All Rise.
