A Partners and Communities Together (PACT) meeting for Silksworth area will be held at Silksworth Community Centre tonight at 6pm. All are welcome to attend and raise any concerns with officers who cover the area.

The next meeting of the Church View Patients’ Group, Silksworth, will take place at Church View Medical Centre, on Wednesday, September 28, at 5.30pm.The speaker will be Henny Carmichael, practice manager. Refreshments will be served at the beginning of the meeting. All patients welcome.

At the September meeting of Tunstall WI, members were welcomed back after the summer break. Six new members were presented with their leaves, which were hung on the WI tree. The Federation Choir gave a most enjoyable programme with choir master Richard and organist Chris. Some members will be visiting the Yarndale Festival at Skipton on Saturday, September 24. The coach will leave from Park Lane at 9.15am and Houghton Broadway at 9.30am. The next meeting will be Thursday, October 13, at North St Methodist Church, Silksworth, at 7pm when the speaker will be Chris O’ Neill. The competition is a decorative picture frame. Visitors always welcome.
A friendly Knitting for Giving group is held in North Street Methodist Church, Silksworth, on the second Saturday of every month. They knit scarves, hats, jumpers etc and send them to various charities working in many parts of the world, also angels for local people. The next meeting is Saturday, October 8, from 10am to noon. All Welcome.
Everyone is invited to a Strawberry Tea in Silksworth IMChurch on Saturday, October 1, from 11am to 1pm, in aid of Breast Cancer Care. Refreshments and stalls. Organised by Tracy Graham.

St John’s Methodist Church, Ashbrooke, Sunderland, are organising a Charity Ball on Thursday, November 10, at the Roker Hotel, Sunderland. Taking place in the magnificent ballroom at the hotel, this event will feature a three-course dinner and then afterwards you can dance the night away to leading Frank Sinatra tribute, Anthony Stringer. Tickets cost £25 and proceeds from the event will be split between St Benedict’s Hospice, Ryhope, and St John’s Methodist Church.
