North Street Methodist Church, Silksworth, is holding its nativity and Christingle service on Sunday at 3pm. All are welcome. There will be no morning or evening services.

A Christmas carol service will be held at Silksworth Health Centre this evening at 6pm. Both the Village Surgery and Colliery Medical Group would like to welcome everyone to their Christmas celebration. The evening will consist of a brass band and a local church choir. Light refreshments will be served.

Silksworth Junior School children brought Christmas cheer to Beckwith Mews residents last week. They were welcomed by court manager David McGee, sang a melody of Christmas songs and delighted everyone.

Angela Kibble a shop assistant in Carricks Supermarket, Silksworth, wanted to donate towards the Children In Need event, so she bought a huge Minnie and Mickey Mouse Christmas light decoration to raffle. Through her generosity and that of her customers she raised a total of £209 for the charity.

Silksworth IM Church will hold its carol service on Sunday at 10.30am. All are welcome.

St Matthew’s Church, Silksworth, is holding the following celebration services: Sunday, Christmas Carol Communion 10am, Carols by Candlelight 6pm; Christmas Eve, Family Crib Service 4pm, Midnight Christmas Communion 11.30pm; Christmas Day, Family Christmas Celebration 10am.

Ryhope WI members enjoyed their December meeting. Bill Clements gave a talk about Modern Day Three Wise Men. The group meets on the first Tuesday of every month in Ryhope Community Centre at 6.30pm. New members always welcome.
