On Wednesday, October 28, Silksworth Church View Patient Group held its AGM and the following officers were re-elected. Chairman J Colin Barksby; secretary Audrey Polkinghorn; treasurer Tom Forsyth and vice-chairman Ann Williams. The officers and the practice thank everyone who has supported the group and would like to encourage more of the practice patients to become involved by attending the monthly meetings.
The next meeting will take place at Church View Medical Centre on Wednesday, December 2, at 5.30pm. This will take the form of a Christmas party and include a raffle to help raise funds to enable the practice to subsidise the alternative therapy sessions provided at the practice. All patients are welcome.
At the Tunstall WI October meeting, physiotherapist Joanne Willis gave an informative talk, with members taking part in some gentle exercise. President Jennifer Vincent welcomed 11 visitors, making the challenge for 100 visitors by December, reach 94. More visitors would be welcome so the group can complete the challenge. Four members visited Ryhope WI’s November meeting, where a music quiz and singalong, arranged by Jenny Sharrat, was enjoyed by all.The next meeting will be held this Thursday at 7pm at North Street Methodist Church, Silksworth, when Karen and Vivienne, from Four Seasons Florist, Silksworth, will give a Christmas flower demonstration. The competition will be the best Christmas card verse.The Christmas party will be discussed and members will be reminded that this year’s carol service will to be held at St Mary’s Church, Heworth on Saturday, December 12, at 2pm. Price will be £2. The Federation Choir has arranged a programme to inlcude both new and traditional carols.

Ryhope WI’s President Shirley Arkley welcomed members from Tunstall WI and Silksworth to their November meeting. Members enjoyed a music quiz and singalong organised by Jenny Sharrat.
Silksworth Heritage Group will meet in Beckwith Mews on Monday, November 16, at 1.30pm.A talk will be given by the Tunstall Hill Protection Group. Admission, including refreshments, is £1. All are welcome.
