RESTORATION work on the rare Shakespeare Folio has been put on hold after a popular display was extended.

The Treasures of Durham University exhibition has proved such a hit, that work to restore the First Folio collection, which has an estimated value of £1.5million, has been delayed.

More than 2,500 people have visited the exhibition at the Wolfson Gallery, Palace Green Library, in its first two months.

The folio was stolen while on display at the library in 1998, before it was returned to Durham University last year.
