Second man in court over jewellers's raid

A second man has appeared at court following a robbery at a jewellers's.

Malcolm Jones, 27, of Matthews Road, Murton, appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court today, charged with robbery.

He did not enter a plea and was remanded in custody to appear at Durham Crown Court on March 2.

The robbery took place at B&H Jewellers on High Street, Spennymoor, on Thursday, January 25.

Another man, Michael Curley, 38, of Short Grove, Murton, also appeared before magistrates in Newton Aycliffe on Monday, charged with robbery.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Durham Crown Court on March 2.
