Police are looking for a dogwalker they believe may have vital evidence to help track down firebugs who carried out an arson attack in Cleadon.
The incident happened at 7.45pm on Tuesday, July 12, at Cleadon Hills Farm, in Sunniside Lane, when a group of youths set fire to hay bales.
Detectives believe someone was walking a dog in the area at the time and witnessed the incident.
Now police are appealing for him or her to get in touch.
Pc Janet Robinson said the incident could have been more dangerous.
“Luckily there was not too much damage caused by the fire but had it spread it could’ve been a lot worse.” she said.
Witnesses should ring 101 quoting reference 1156 120716 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
