Every Tuesday from noon to 1pm, gentle exercise, a physical activity session for older adults, is held at Eastlea Community Centre, Stockton Road. Cost is £1 per person.

Sunday Services for July 31 are: Holy Communion at 10am in Christ Church, New Seaham, and 6pm at St Andrew’s, Dalton-le-Dale. Evening prayer will be held at Christ Church at 6pm. There will be the usual Wednesday morning 10am service of Holy Communion at Christ Church. Everyone is welcome to attend, Come as strangers, stay as friends.

The Brunch, held at Christ Church, in support of Christian Aid raised £470. Many thanks to all who supported this very important effort, and to those who were responsible for the hard work in the organisation and preparation.

St Mary the Virgin Church, Old Seaham, the 6th/7th century Anglo Saxon Church will be open to pilgrims and visitors every Wednesday and Saturday, from 2pm to 4pm until mid-September.

A good attendance of parents were present at the annual meeting of Dawdon (2nd Seaham) Air Scout Group held on Friday, July 15, in the Group Headquarters, The Farn Scouting Centre, Parkside Road. The various sections, Beavers, Cubs and Scouts, have short presentations of song, rhyme and an account of why they enjoyed Cubboree. The children have worked especially hard to gain a vast array of Badges, including two silver awards, the highest award for a Cub Scout. During August a short group camp is to be held and in October Scouts will be attending ‘Confido’, the county camp. There are no regular meetings during the school holidays but the group will resume its normal times in September.
