Once again St Mary the Virgin Church, a 7th/8th century Anglo Saxon Church in Old Seaham is participating in the Heritage Open Days Weekend, when it is hoped people will pay the church a visit. It will be open on Saturday, September 12, and Sunday, September 13, from 10am-4pm.

Dawdon (2nd Seaham) Beavers, Clubs and Scouts resume normal meetings on a Friday evening at The Farn Scouting Centre, Parkside Road, on September 4. New members welcome as are adult volunteers to help with the Scout Troop. For further information, contact 1091 581 0419.

Monday, September 7, will see Mothers’ Union members from Easington Deanery meeting at Christ Church, New Seaham, at 2pm for a Eucharist Service and Hymns of Praise. Light refreshment and renewing friendships to follow.

On Sunday, the 14th Sunday after Trinity, Holy Community will be celebrated at Christ Church, New Seaham, at 10am and St Andrew’s, Dalton-le-Dale at 6pm. A service of evening prayer will be held at Christ Church at 6pm.

Durham Constabulary Male Voice Choir will sing at the charity concert on Thursday, September 24, at 7.15pm in aid of the Poppy Appeal.
