Tonight at 7pm, Mr S Williams will preside at the Tuesday evening service at Seaham Spiritualist Church, Vane Terrace. All are welcome. Entrance is £3.50.

On Sunday, there will be Holy Communion celebrated at Christ Church, New Seaham, at 10am and at St Andrew’s Dalton-le-Dale at 6pm. Evensong will take place at Christ Church at 6pm. On Wednesday, September 2, 10am at Christ Church there will be a service of Holy Communion.

SAINT Mary the Virgin, the beautiful ancient 7th/8th Century church at Old Seaham, will be open for visitors and pilgrims to enjoy for a few more Wednesdays and Saturdays, from 2pm-4pm.

THERE is no Friday lunch at Christ Church this Friday (the kitchen staff need their summer holiday) but regulars will be pleased to know that the lunches will resume on the fourth Friday in September. Meet up with all your friends and enjoy a home cooked meal. There is a tombola stall and raffle for those who live dangerously. All proceeds to the church.

THANKS to a Big Lottery – Awards For All boost of £10,000, Eastlea Community Centre has replaced its patched up and ageing perimeter fencing, thus safeguarding the centre and its users.

DAWDON (2nd Seaham) Air Scouts will meet at the Farn Scouting Centre, Parkside Road, on Friday at 1.45pm for a sponsored walk to raise funds to help to provide adventure activities for the troop members. Normal meetings resume the first Friday in September and new members are welcome to go along. Contact the Group Scout Leader on 5810419.

IF you wish to have a Poppy Wreath for Remembrance Sunday, place your order as soon as possible or you may be disappointed. An up to date list of contacts and wreaths is being compiled, so even if you have had one in the past, do no presume there will be one available at the last moment. Order forms have already been distributed to local organisations, their completed return would be appreciated. Helpers to deliver and collect poppies and tins and/or man stations in supermarkets are desperately needed. Contact Elizabeth, 5810419.

Dawdon Youth and Communtity Centre will be holding a summer fair on Friday from 11am-3pm. Entry will be 20p. There will be face painting, tombola, raffle and all the usual stalls.
