A NEW-look Scout hut has been officially declared open.

Durham MP Roberta Blackman-Woods opened the 1st Framwellgate Moor Scout Group’s newly-refurbished home.

The Scout group is the biggest in Durham and its refurbished Scout centre will provide 135 young people with a base to enjoy a wide range of activities, from gorge-walking and canoeing to crafts and visiting the pantomime.

More than 30 volunteers have given up more than 3,000 hours of their time to refurbish the centre, which is home to two Beaver colonies, two Cub packs and two Scout troops.
