Scottish visitor caused train disruption by sitting on Sunderland railway bridge

Ashley Forster, 22, of Craigmiller Castle Gardens, Edinburgh, has been jailed for six weeks suspended for a year, after admitting sitting on a railway bridge in Sunderland on December 29, causing disruption to train services. She also pleaded guilty to trespassing on the railway at St Peter’s Metro station on the same day. She was told to pay an £80 surcharge.

Donna Hassan, 39, of Goodwood Square, Sunderland, pleaded guilty to three counts of benefit fraud. She did not declare that she was in receipt of student finance, on July 17, 2012, and between September 20, 2011, and January 7, 2013, when she made claims for income support, and between January 8, 2013, and June 16, 2014, when she claimed employment and support allowance. She was given a one-year community order with 100 hours of unpaid work. She was also told to pay a victim surcharge of £60 and costs of £85.

Michael Laing, 30, of Ramillies Road, Sunderland, admitted failing to provide a specimen of breath when suspected of having driven a vehicle on November 11. He was fined £120 and was told to pay a victim surcharge of £20 and costs of £50. He was banned from driving for a year.

Nathan Leng, 22, of Coverley Road, Hylton Castle, admitted assault by beating October 4. He was fined £300 and was told to pay compensation of £100 and costs of £50.

Ronald Roke, 50, of Riversdale Terrace, Eden Vale, admitted using threatening or abusive words or behaviour on January 12, to cause harassment, alarm or distress. He was fined £100 and was told to pay a victim surcharge of £20 and costs of £30.

Ashley Walls, 35, of Lawnswood, Houghton, was convicted of failing to ensure a child of compulsory school age attended school regularly between September 9, 2013, and January 15, 2014. She was fined £50.
