WATER workers have raised cash for a disability support group.

Staff at Durham-based Northumbrian Water raised more than £550 for the Durham and District branch of the Multiple Sclerosis Society by holding cake breaks.

A spokesman for the charity said: “It was a wonderful surprise to receive such a large donation that will enable us to continue helping people to manage the practical, emotional and financial side of living with this incurable, progressive illness that attacks the brain and central nervous system and often leads to crippling disability.

“We’re really grateful to the staff involved.”
