The pupil of Peterlee’s The Academy at Shotton Hall beat off tough competition from other girls to win the accolade.

Now she is in the finals to take the Miss Teen Galaxy England crown in Lancashire in February and if she is successful there, she goes on to represent the UK in the USA finals, to be held in Orlando, Florida.

Her proud mum Janine Holligon, 40, of Mitchell Close, Peterlee, who is married to Nissan worker Andrew Holligon, 39, said: “She has done some modelling before. She sent away some information about herself and got a letter back to say she had been pre-selected.

“She got another letter to say she had beaten off competition from thousands to take part in the grand final. We are very, very proud of her.”

As part of the awards scheme, Savanna, a member of Shotton Hall’s cheerleading academy, is helping out in the community, and will make an appearance at a fashion show in aid of poorly boys Bradley Lowery and Oliver Osborn at Easington Social Welfare Centre at 7pm on November 23.
