A SCHOOLGIRL has won a place in the semi-final of a prestigious beauty pageant.

Jazmine Nichol, 14, from Biddick Woods, is flying the flag for the region in Miss Teen Great Britain 2014/15.

The Oxclose Community Academy pupil said: “I am so excited to have made it to the semi-final, it is a great achievement.

“I really respect the work the finalists do to raise money for charities such as the Together for Short Lives children hospices.

“I have recently lost my grandad to cancer, and he was in a hospice, so I have seen first-hand the difference they can make to families.”

If Jazmine makes it through to the final she’ll compete against teenagers from across Great Britain at a grand final being held in October at The Globe in Blackpool.

The event will include a beauty queen challenge Day and a pyjama diva party.

Jazmine said: “Making it to the grand final would be a dream come true – I would be such an honour to represent my region and win the Miss Teen Great Britain crown.”
