Schoolgirl, 14, critical after cliff fall in Sunderland

A TEENAGER is fighting for her life today after plunging more than 20ft down cliffs at a Sunderland park.

The Great North Air Ambulance was scrambled to Mowbray Park at about 7.30pm yesteday after the 14-year-old girl fell 24ft, sustaining serious head and pelvic injuries, as well as other internal injuries.

She was treated at the scene but because of the weather had to be taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary, in Newcastle, by road ambulance with a trauma team.

The schoolgirl was said to be in a critical condition.
