A city school is putting cookery on the menu for the community.
Kepier Academy in Houghton has set up a cookery course for members of the Seaham branch of University of the Third Age, an organisation for retired people.
Dave Brennan, a member of staff at the Dairy Lane school, said technology teacher, Leanne Mullen, runs the club, along with her mum, Jean, in the school’s food technology department once a month.
Members have made a range of tasty dishes so far.
Mr Brennan, said: “Things like this are really important to us at Kepier, as we strongly feel that with the excellent facilities schools have it’s important that these are used to the full.”
