A SECONDARY school is on top form after receiving its second glowing Government report in a row.
The Academy at Shotton Hall, in Peterlee, has joined an exclusive group of schools after being awarded a second “outstanding” grade from watchdog Ofsted.
The double award is rare, and the school said it was testament to its “excellent and sustained achievements” over the past three years.
The inspectors highlighted many areas in which the Academy, in Waveney Road, was delivering standards of education that shone out as exemplary, and which produced results significantly above national averages.
The report states: “Teachers are extremely knowledgeable, and their passion for the subjects they teach shines through in their lessons.
“Consequently, students are absorbed in their learning and achievement is of the highest order.”
Principal Lesley Powell said: “Each and every member of staff is delighted with the judgment, which they have put their hearts and souls into achieving.”
