Sam Blacklock, who scores for Eppleton’s first team, has been appointed to the role after being asked to step up by Durham Cricket Board ACO chairman Paul Jordison.

The 19-year-old, who has been scoring for the past five seasons, is delighted with his new role, which includes running courses to promote scoring.

“I was really pleased when Paul asked if I would like to become the new County Scoring Officer, as it shows the county know my interests in scoring and are wanting me to develop and help with the progress of scoring in Durham,” said Blacklock.

“I am really involved with what goes on at Eppleton, so thought this would be something which will get me more involved with cricket in Durham.”.

Sam currently scores for Durham Under-15s and Under-19s, in addition to helping out with the North East Premier League Under-21s team.

He scored on a visit to Dubai last Easter and hopes that his experience will bring something to the role succeeding Peter Connolly, who stepped down at the end of the season.
