A WOMAN had a lucky escape after her car flipped onto its roof.
The two-vehicle accident happened at about 5.45am today on the northbound carriageway of the A19, near the Seaham junction.
Firefighters, police and paramedics rushed to the scene, but the driver of the Citroen C3 was uninjured and out of the car before they arrived.
The male driver of the other vehicle was also unhurt.
Elsewhere, the main carriageway of the A690, Houghton Cut, was closed at about 7.30am after a traffic accident.
Drivers were forced to use alternative routes around the one-vehicle crash, which happened on the southbound carriageway.
And the A1(M) was closed near Chester-le-Street.
Stationary traffic and long delays were reported northbound between J62, A690 Carville and J63, A167 Chester Le Street because of the two-vehicle accident at about 7.30am.
