A NEW exhibition of robots from film and television opens this weekend in Durham.
Durham University’s Palace Green Library will have full-size robots, robot parts, film props and collectible robot toys on display from Saturday.
Visitors will get the opportunity to meet familiar faces and see items from shows including an original Kryten costume from BBC comedy Red Dwarf and a B9 robot from Lost In Space.
Alongside the robots, the exhibition displays a collection of books and comics showing the development of robots from 17th-century water powered figures to the futuristic worlds of Judge Dredd and 2000 AD.
Jon Purcell, Durham University’s librarian, said: “This light-hearted exhibition has been produced in partnership with the Department of English Studies.
“The robots have toured both in the UK and abroad and have created a huge wave of interest.”
The exhibition runs from Saturday until April 27 next year. It is open Tuesday and Sunday, 10am to 5pm, and Monday, noon to 5pm. For more details, visit www.durham.ac.uk.
