Robbie's century inspires big win for Durham Under-14s

Durham Under-14s claimed a superb seven-wicket win over Cumbria, their first in the County Cup Group One at the fourth attempt.

Charlie Hutchinson hit 12 fours and three sixes in a memorable, unbeaten 116 as Cumbria made 249 all out in 49 overs.

Ewan Jenkins was the pick of the bowlers, taking 3-31, while Tristan Anderson grabbed 2-37. Ed brown, Luke Robinson and Luke Husband also struck.

Durham had a century of their own as they secured victory, finishing on 252-3, with Robbie Dawson blasting 14 fours and five sixes in a 61-ball 117 not out.

Abhinav Ramisetty added five fours in 43no, Jenkins hit seven in 35 and Jake Pratt had four boundaries in 21.

Three days earlier, Durham lost by seven wickets to Derbyshire at Chester-le-Street.

Jake Dickinson’s 62no at No 8 helped Durham to 189 all out in 49.5 overs, while Tom Ward hit 28 and Daniel Gray 18.

Ben Halliday snatched 3-19 for Derbyshire, backed by Mitchell Wagstaff’s 3-28.

Undefeated half-centuries from Archie Harrison and Kieran Pell, plus Nafis Shaikh’s 40, then guided Derbyshire to victory with 25 balls to spare. Jenkins, Husband and Robinson took the wickets to fall.
