Robbery charge man due in court

A MAN is due to appear in court later this month after he was charged with a street robbery.

Gareth Jason Wilde, 29, of Felling, Gateshead, will face the allegation when he goes before Sunderland Magistrates’ Court on April 24.

The charge follows an incident at 11.30pm on Friday involving two men in a rear lane at Argyle Square, in Ashbrooke.

A 22-year-old man reported he had been pushed up against the wall and had his pockets searched and his mobile phone and wallet had been stolen.

The stolen property was recovered and a man was arrested.

Police are continuing inquiries into the incident.
