Sunderland's manager position may be vacant following another harrowing season which ended in relegation to the third tier but bookmakers have already installed the club as favourites to win League One.

The Mackems are still in a state of relative disarray with no long-term vision as Stewart Donald's consortium awaits EFL approval to take the club over.

But a 3-0 final day win over champions Wolves with a young team gave a semblance of hope for the next season.

It, of course, is very early doors with the full compilation of 24 teams competing in the league next season still to be decided with the League Two play-offs. Much can, and likely will, change in pre-season with managerial arrivals and departures around the league, plus the transfer window.
