Marko Arnautovic’s double in the first quarter of the match put Stoke in control, and Peter Crouch added a third goal on 34 minutes. Jermain Defoe gave Sunderland hope with a fine goal before the break, but there was to be no way back for David Moyes’ men. With Hull beating Bournemouth, the Lads drop to 19th place, only above bottom club Swansea on goal difference.
