It's been hailed as one of the best gigs held at the Stadium of Light by some, but not everyone is happy with Beyonce's debut at the home of the Black Cats.

Last night the global superstar opened the European leg of her Formation World tour in Sunderland, with a spectacle of tracks from new album, Lemonade, as well as classic hits.

Though many have praised the star for her high-octane show, not everyone was happy with the gig, particularly those in the standing area.

Echo readers have take to social media to complain at Beyonce arriving on stage, to open with title track Formation, at 8.45pm, 45 minutes later than they expected.

Though there's been speculation about safety causing the delay, the Echo understands that there were no technical or safety issues and that timings are always subject to change, as stated in the run up to the gig. And, despite the 'delay', the star still performed her full two hour set.

Tracy Pemberton- Nicholson said: "And it was all over, 45 mins late, no Single Ladies, small snippets from other songs, Prince singing purple rain and a purple spinning box watching these videos I feel ungrateful having a moan but remember these videos are only a few seconds and these were for me her best seconds!!!"

Sarah Hannahsaid: "Not well done SAFC dangerous conditions, unorganised, 45 min delay to sort out the overcrowding health and safety clearly no concern to them."

Lordkeith Leckenby said: "I think anyone who is payed that much money for 2 hours work should be on time."

Carlo Finlinson said: "All times were subject to change. As with any act."

Elaine Winter said: "PHENOMENAL!! We walked straight in, no queues at 6:30! Rain??? Who cares?? Worth every penny and getting soaked! Well done, and thank you to whoever was responsible for bringing the amazing Mrs Carter to Sunderland! WOW!"

Lucy Alexandra Bennett said: " Don't know how anyone can say it was boring and disappointing! If you wanted all her old songs you aren't going to get that on a tour promoting a new album. I didn't even realise she'd missed out Single Ladies until someone posted on Twitter complaining about it!!! I was sat behind the disabled bays the the right of the stage and absolutely everyone was having an amazing time with their friends. Loved it."
