A recruitment drive for staff is under way, with sales and service, front of house staff, chefs, kitchen assistants, kitchen porter and a cleaner being appointed.

The bar will be able to handle 120 diners, with bosses hoping it will become a community pub, where families will be able to enjoy a booth of their own, kitted out with a television aimed at keeping children entertained.

It will also have two play areas for youngsters aged from two, with a patio area to the front and a garden.

A spokeswoman for Marstons, which will run the business, said: “Teal Farm will be a community pub serving great-value food for all of the family.

“There will be a quiz, occasional live entertainment and we’ll be looking for pool, football, darts, hockey etc teams to represent the pub.

“We will have Sky and BT sports, which will be showing all of the big sporting events.

“There won’t be a function room, but we will be able to cater for functions such as parties, christenings and family gatherings.”

Bosses have appointed Steve Brand as its manager.

He will be in the community during the coming weeks and will find charities for the pub to back.
