Sara Dembry and her husband, Tom, from Houghton, were given the Rocky Horror Theatre Experience prize and were chauffeured in a specially-commissioned Rolls Royce Ghost to The Roker Hotel for an evening meal, before changing into their Rocky Horror fancy dress costumes.

They were then taken to see a performance of the show, before returning by Rolls Royce for an overnight stay in the hotel.

The Rocky Horror Experience prizes, valued at £1,600, were donated by The Sunderland Empire, The Roker Hotel and Eden Costumes, as part of a package of raffle prizes to raise money for the Butterwick House Hospice for babies, children and young adults.

Sara said: “The prize was actually won by my sister Rachael who lives in Berlin. We’re all huge Rocky Horror fans, but she couldn’t get time off work, so gave the prize to me and Emily, my other sister.”

The car was commissioned and donated by Rolls-Royce Motor Cars to Together for Short Lives, a charity that represents children’s hospices nationally, for 12 months. Simon Cowell, the charity’s Patron, handed the unique car over to the charity’s CEO Barbara Gelb.

Sylvia Stoneham, fundraiser for Butterwick House Hospice, said: “Butterwick House has cared for life limited children from the Sunderland area since 1998 so we are extremely grateful to the Sunderland Empire and The Roker Hotel for giving such an unforgettable prize package. And also to Rolls Royce Motors and Together for Short Lives for entrusting the beautiful and exclusive car to us.”
