Pride on the rise in region

Have your say

A SUMMER of high-profile events from the Jubilee to the Olympics seems to have given patriotism in the North East a boost.

Broadband provider Plusnet found almost 80 per cent of people in the region described themselves as proud to be British, with a third claiming they feel more proud now than they have for a decade.

Almost 70 per cent of respondents from the North East were most proud of our sense of humour, while two-thirds pointed to sporting successes.

Researcher Dr Cliff Arnall said: “It became immediately apparent that Britain is riding on the crest of a wave of pride in 2012.”
