TEENAGER Holly Lyons is swapping a Durham pit village for Paris.
The 17-year-old from Easington Colliery has won a place in the Face of Europe and will jet off to the finals at Disneyland Paris in December.
Holly won her place after being named as the Face of Newcastle when it was staged at Ramside Hall, County Durham.
The student, who is working towards a national diploma in childcare, learning and development, said: “I heard about the competition and decided to enter. It was just a last-minute thing but I’m really pleased I did now.
“I was one of the last ones to enter so everything was rushed and I was probably the least prepared.
“I was just really laid-back and I think it was a good thing because I didn’t have too much time to worry about it.”
After beating the 22 finalists in Face of Newcastle, Holly, who is about to turn 18, now has her sights set on The Face of Europe title.
