SUNDERLAND’S rail link to London is on the right track with travellers, a new report shows.
Figures released by independent rail consumer watchdog Passenger Focus show 95 per cent of Grand Central passengers are satisfied with the company’s services.
The results in the Autumn 2010 National Passenger Survey rate Grand Central as the country’s second-top rail company based on overall passenger satisfaction.
The Passenger Focus survey also shows that about 95 per cent gave a positive rating to the comfort of the seating area, personal security and the internal cleanliness of Grand Central trains.
Tom Clift, Grand Central managing director, said: “These figures are a tribute to our on-train staff who are fantastic. We are keen to grow the number of routes and communities we serve to provide more potential passengers with the Grand Central experience.
“We are eager to engage with other industry and Government bodies so that we can give rail users more choice and more journey opportunities at a time when Government is concerned about the costs of running the franchised railway.”
