PUB landlord Keith Steele is all in a flap over a chicken dish named after the ex-SAFC boss.
Just two weeks ago, the boss at The Cliff in Roker added a new dish to his menu - Pollo Di Canio.
The chicken and prawn speciality has already proved a massive hit with punters.
Now, following the Italian’s departure, Keith is refusing to remove the dish from the menu in protest over the decision to axe him.
Keith, 42, said: “They just didn’t give him enough time.
“As far as I’m concerned, he’s been dealt a bad hand.
“He’s made all these changes and they needed some time to take effect.
“I had hoped Di Canio would come along one night and sample the dish we named after him. It’s gone down really well with the customers.”
