Coffee chain Siesta Coffee, which runs a similar premises in Newton Aycliffe, is now looking to open in the building serving people primarily working in industrial estates in the area.

Plans include a 30-space car park.

The applicant considered alternative sites in Peterlee town centre and Seaham but the out-of-town option was seen as having a lower impact on neighbouring businesses.

Three full-time and three part-time jobs would be created at the site.

A decision on the plan is expected by early May.

Comments can be made to the council before April 2.
