Police recruiting volunteers for Special Constabulary
Nick Tompkins, who has served seven years as a special, works full-time for a water survey company and devotes 42 hours a month to being a Special.
Special Sergeant Tompkins, 42, who recently received a chief constable’s commendation for tackling anti-social behaviour, said: “I can’t recommend it enough. It is varied, rewarding and exciting.”

Hide AdDeputy Chief Constable Michael Banks, said Specials have the same powers and equipment as their colleagues and are a “great asset” to the force. Special Constables can vary their hours and are reimbursed expenses.
