Police probing takeaway break-ins search for wanted man with connections to Penshaw and Washington

A police force trying to track down a man wanted in connection with a series of burglaries on takeaways and a funeral direction say he could be on Wearside.

Martin Joseph Brown, 52, is wanted by North Yorkshire Police in connection with burglaries at takeaways in Scarborough, Pickering, Filey and Whitby and a funeral directors in Scarborough.

He is also wanted by Northumbria Police in connection with similar offences in their area.

He is from the Tyne and Wear area and has connections to the Penshaw and Washington.

Police are asking anyone who has seen Brown or knows of his current whereabouts to contact them.

Anyone with any information is asked to call North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 1 and pass information to the Force Control Room.
